Amino acid analysis can be performed to obtain detailed information about the amino acid composition of protein/peptide hydrolysates, free amino acids in cell culture media and of free amino acids in serum, plasma, urine, and intracellular free amino acids. In addition, it can also apply to characterize unnatural amino acids and chiral amino acids (D/L form).

For this type of analysis, your samples should fulfil these criteria:

• minimal volume: 5 µl
• minimal amount: 1-5 µg
• optimal amount: 10 µg (NOTE: triplicate analysis = triple amount)
• dissolved in volatile solvents
• free of non-volatile buffers, salts, detergents, primary amines, etc.

For this type of analysis, your samples should fulfil these criteria:

• minimal volume: 50 µl
• optimal volume: 100-200 µl
• Volumes indicated are for mouse urine and plasma; they may be significantly different for other species or for tissue extract.

Do not perform SSA precipitation, this should be carried out immediately before analysis.
